I dont blog only when I'm troubled.
But I blog when I am troubled.

Came quite suddent to me.
Sounded like a hard to come by opportunity, grab it fast or lose it..

Not sure if I am ready, and not sure if it would be a bad move.

Still I decided to go for it.
Nothing to lose.

4 years back, i decided to shut myself from the outside social world, and live in my own bubble, so I took up the grave-yard shift.
Social life dont mean anything to me then.

2 years later, Decided to come out of the bubble, and embrace the sunlight, and the abundance of social networking.

Almost 2 years later, today, it dawned on me, I have nothing to lose to be en-capsuled by the bubble again, if the worst turns out to be.

work become the only social life. Live to work, earn that bucks, and decide later how to spend that.
Be realistic, the rest are just "过眼云烟”

everyday around us, we see different people from different walks of life.
We nvr really pay attention to people whom who dont know.

Sometimes, you should stop and reflect, upon seeing teh different grp of people around u, in the different social circle, working in different environment.

While queing in a long queue to pay for my stuffs in Cold storage, for no reason, some thoughts flashes through my mind.

how some other people living in the same country with the same standard of living can get on with life, even though not holding a well paid job.

They are not retirees, but people like us, in the "prime or even "late prime".
Well people like us maybe earning double or tripe of what they have, are complaining of not enuff to spend...

I was trying to clear up my yahoo mailbo today, seeing that it has chalked up thousand emails over the past 6 years.

Yeah. I hadnt deleted most emails even though they were read and responded.

Until i cleared til year 2006, there was a bulk of email which I was reluctant to checked the box and send it to the "delete" option.

Went into some of the mail and read the contents sent by the various members...

Strong words were used, motivational and brought back really really fond memories..

I could felt as though those days were being relived as i read thru the messages...

It's been quite a while since i experienced this type of "Race training".
It was sheer tiredness and all out.
But It was a great feeling, probably for once, i get to row more than I cox!

It made me more prepared for the upcoming race, and I can feel the fighting spirit even stronger.

Probably highly attributable to the familiar faces in the boat, as opposed to the weekly changing faces.

I see the core group emerging. getting ready to break off from its cocoon..
Just a matter of time.
if this group carries on, it should evolved, and when it flaps its wings, the effects will be strongly felt.

I was fascinated by this little toy of yester-year. Though its form has changed over the years, but the element of fun still remains.

A Simple water-gun, never faisl to bring out the child in everyone.
Nowadys, it's a rare sight to witness children playign water-gun fight at void-decks and playgrounds. Compared to the years of the 80s. This was one of the "must-own" toy of every child.
In contrast, its the nitendo heand-held or some hand-held electronic gadgets.

Thanks to the recent BKK trip that coincides with the SOngkran (water) Festival, I witness the fun and laughters when one is "attacked" or "assasinated" by strangers on the street.
It felt like police-and-thief, but you dont know who's which and who's your ally.
It brings out the child in so many adults during the water fight.

Maybe one day, Singapore shoud have a day or 2 of "water festival" as an excuse for the grown-ups to reminiscene and enjoyed those simple joy from yester-years.
Afterall, Singapore strikes such a hot weather, and its justifiable for a day or 2 of declared "water days"

Are Local guys Hot Enuff?

saw an article recently on the topic (agian)
'Are local guys hot enuff".
Adn yet again, the contreversy surrounds the comparison between Local guys and Ang-mohs, and the local guys "dress-sense".

Ok, one undeniable fact, ang mohs "generally" have more defined features, thats 1-0 to the ang mohs.

Then, the never-laid-to-rest argument put forward by LOCAL gals on why Local guys are NOT hot enuff.
I.e., they commented in matter-of-fact, cos local guys dress too shabby, walking down towns in slippers, berms and t-shirts/singlets.
Not trying to stage a war against gender, but just my own thoughts on why some comments are unfounded nd non-supportive....
All i wanted to comment on this is, put yourself in the same shoe before making such remarks...
Berms and slippers and t-shirts can still make you look hot.

What are the Local gals dress sense in view of above context?
Isn't it also Slippers/flats wth short-shorts and skimpy t-shirts, spags and mistaching blouse ad t-shirts?
And do you think they look "hot" in such attire? Literally maybe.
And how many gals bother to put on make-up when in town?
How many who put make up, really put enuff to eccentuate their features?
My word of advice to them is :
learn a rope or 2 from the Taiwanese/Hong kees/ Jap ladies if yu want to make full use of make-up products.

So ladies, before you make that matter-of-fact comments that s'pore guys are not hot becos they dressed too shabbily, do a self-check first. how often do you take on a dress, unless at a 'grand dinner"?
It has become a 'sacred " piece of clothing to be tuged away in a ladies wardrobe... hanging there, seldom exposed to the light...
Dressing casually doesnt rule you out as hot. Even gals in plain jeans and t-shirt can be termed hot, its how you carry it off.

And yep, because local guys generally can carry off wearing berms and t-shirts well on the streets, and ladies, if you can carry it off with short-shorts , t-shirts and little make-ups, you can still be coined "Hot".

Hence my next question is : "Are local GALS hot enuff"... The answer is obvious, IF, you choose to put it in the above context.
Guys , whats your take?

The passage of time just comes to you , even if you didnt realise it...

the "parties" and "celebrations" that you frequent, almost immediately indicates the stage of life that you are in....

Remember when you were schooling, it would always be clubbing invites, lunch/dinner "parties"?

Thereafter, as you approach past your teens, into youth, its all the rave about "Brithday Celebrations".
Countless birthday parties, chalets invites from friends...

Thereafter, as you embark into the next phase of life, you realise the invites you;ve been getting are wedding invites.
Hotels name started filling up your 730pm - 11pm slots. well, sometimes up to 2 times a month.. or more!
You know whichj stage you are at now.... hmmm

recently , i realise i'm beginning to embark into another phase of life...
Wedding invites, well, still coming in, but something else is fast catching up...

Baby shower invtes...
Ok, this means the many weddings you've been to has blossom, and its already the "age" of motherhood/fatherhood among your circle of friends ( plus yourself !)....
Wrinkles are nothing but a common sight at this stage of the life cycle...

Hmm.. I dont have to spell out what's the next stage of "celebration" invites (if you would termed it 'celebration' at all).
People started coming together at night in solitarity.

I hope its still a long way to that stage... or better still , not to have such invites.....
I dont really rejoice or celebrate on such ocassion, though some folks out there might think otherwise.....

2 consecutive nights of clubbing til 4-5 AM with barely 4hours of sleep each night...

Only the power of Thai massage can get me thru these nights...
Phew... Tiring , didnt even did that in my "hey-days" during those uni years...
afterall, holiday trips are meant to have fun, isnt it?

Out of the few BKK trips, this time, its really an enjoyable one...

Hadn't had such a good laugh since don't know 曾几何时...

Broadway Beng this year was really really Hilarious.
I'm glad I'm a Singapore native Hokkien, to be able to understand this "beautiful" language with a really good night laugh...
great show.

Was having quick dinenr at Marina Sq food court (Food Loft), and it actually brought back some little nice memories to me.

At the same corner of the food loft, was where a group of us ocassionally gathers for lunch after trainings.
This evening, saw the same corner, occupied by a grp of PA WV DBoaters.

Seems like that is the only corner, ideal for a big grp, and with an unspoken language, that corner seems to be "reserved" for such groups "gatherings"

Reminds me of those happy times during lunch then..
Brought a silly smile to me at the point...

Great "Buddies!"

I "stunned" for a sec when the question was posed to me;
"what do you do usually (besides work)?"

Cos I know my reply will be termed "no LIfe" in most people's mind.

Not really, to me.

I made 2 great buddies recently whom I spent my time with after work.

One is named "Gym".
He's been a fren/buddy for quite a while. But this year, he's been 不离不弃 spending the nights with me. Rain or shine.

Just got acquainted with a new buddy recently too.
His name is "Swim'.
I am begining to enjoy his company. He teaches me a new style, which i really enjoy picking up.
On days when I can't meet "Gym", I have "Swim" for companion.
Only flaw tho, appointment with "Swim" has to be cancelled if its a rainy day....

They have positive influence on me though. And definitely a "healthy" one on me, literally.

IMHO, I don't termed spending time with "them" equates "No Life", cos i am enjoying my company with "gym" and "swim". And they kinda becoming part of my "Life" now..
Like a drug, I feel uneasy if i dont get to see anyone of them for at least once in a week...

That's what I've been busy with recently.

At least , i know these are "friends" i can really depend on when i feel down.

was on msn chat with a fren, who crazily clocked 10mins 35sec in vertical marathon climbing 73 storeys....

To me that was a crazy timing.
Asked how and why he did it,
"to collect medals".
I was like -_-"
Collected medal for 8 years liao...., and he is looking to get a perfect 10...

At that instance, i was looking at my medals hanging just near to me. After adding up all my medals from teh various sorts, then woul i be able to slightly surpass his medal count of 8..., which later further check, he has ANOTHER 8 from Stan Chart Marathon...
errmmmm....

I felt so belittled, giving up after 4 DB medals... thos these four medals means alot, given the fact that they were all garnered within one year.
At the moment, did felt like going back.. but then again.....

Well, maybe the day may come again, for that wood to be immersed in water once again....?

Great Expectations

I learnt and I experienced for myself, expectations and disappointment are directly correlated.

This year SRR, not as a rower, but as a coswaint for the Team.
It was partly a promised I made to myself anyway, last year, when the unfortunate occurs.
Why not we cox our own boats.
No more wrong lanes, no paddle fights.

As a paddlers , the expectation to perform and win races are high.

And when these expectations are not met, the disappoint are high... if not higher...

As a Coswaint, the expectation are different. You want the boat to have the least drag, the "straight-est" course and the motivation to the paddler. You feel great when the boat glides.

With that, there are no more regrets.

The Team "flew" the boat, the feeling was great.

While, I made it , and promised fulfilled.
I Cox, no wrong lanes, and I must admit, the boat was awesome powered by the Paddlers from Team P.A.Ls (Paddlers Against Limits)
Of course, being out of touch with the paddle and water for 3 months, there is no reason for me to be paddling...
That adrenaline , from coxing the boat alongside the other 4 boats side by side for the full 300m, it certainly was as "high" as paddling alongside these teams as a paddler.

No doubt, this team has turned stronger, slowly but surely. 3 heats, we were fighting seats by seats for the full course. In National open Categories.
That's better than sex!

Witnessing flights takes off and landing one-by-one at such close proximity can be so fascinating.
Hearing the thunderous roar of the air-crafts' engine can be so "high".
Trying to identify the different airline can be so interesting.

Seeing so many makes and models of air-crafts in such a short duration can be so entertaining.

"Flight-watching: can be such an enjoyable "past-time".

I didnt even realise its over an hour spent, literally clinging on to the gate, trying to get as near to the runway as possible.

Only crazy people like us can spend the friday night, watching these aircrafts at Changi airport runway, landing...., taking off.....

ahh.....It soothes even the savage beast...

One more day to the event date....

Ok, I have been slacking... Out of the four legs, i can only say the cycling leg was been trained...

Other than that, have only swim a few ocassion, havent been running for ages... and behold, havent blade for atleast 2 months???

And I have to complete the 20km blading leg after a short swim.....

Just hope i dont kena cramp dring the 2hours plus of race.... I foresee a tough challenge, altough the distances are not that intimidating... but on the prep part...

It's just becos of my laziness and procrastination....
Well, aim t finish it..

If can finish below 2hr 20 mins, then its a great bonus.. but I seriously doubt so... cos I was more prepared last yr ncompared to this year...

Hmm.. I thought I swear to myself last year that was the last time I am gonna do a Quad... Why am I subjecting myself to such suffering....??

Trust me to forgot abt a former fellow uni-coursemate's church wedding on saturday...
Totally slipped my mind and I even went for my morning DB training.
Only realised i missed the wedding ceremony after like a good 6 hours overdue.....

What's more, the venue of the church where the wedding is taking place, is located just 200m away from my house... -__-"

Really having poor and failing memory... Sign no.1 of Ageing??? Nooo..........!!

Well, at least i din't forget abt the dinner with the former kopi-gang after each trainig back in "those days".. While, not exactly the same grp, but almost there.. hahaa.

Well, its a "blessing" that in any group of frens that you may have, there would be someone who makes the effort to gather the "forces" together, in a bid to keep the group intact despite everyone 個奔東西, and gradually loses contacts.

Fortunately, we always have such people in the group, that bands the group tog.

From my JC days, we have "大姐" who keeps the small group of us intact, and we never failed to reminiscene the JC days and the hilarious moments of (who else but) our tutors...

From the uni days, though we hall niners no longer stayed under one roof, but Fiona nvr fails to get everyone tog , and exchange "data" so that everyone is updated with the "latest" news (or rather, gossips) of fellow hostelites.. hahaa...

Am glad that in DB, the very first Team I was with, we had someone like that.Weiyin, Keeping the group tog even though we are all no longer rowing tog as a team for a year or more, and yet still very much cherish the moments tog...

Oh, and i just realised there's something in common on all these Gatherings...
The Girls are the one holding the Group together.....

Realised that the Fong Seng now has changed drastically... Its so organised and nest.

No.1 thing that drivers dislike, is having a passenger that tells you "Turn Right/left NOW"
For good-ness sake, try being behind the wheel, and get last minute "orders"

Even F1 driver can't make a quick turn withing split seconds. And please, the road is not yours alone, even when you want to make a last minute turn, you have to be mindful of car, beside , behind(yes, behind you) and oppposite!

Its not like pedestrain ok, want to turn left the turn left, want to turn right straight away "ka-kana pusing"...

And also seriously, personally, when a driver turn up the volume of his favourite songs on teh radio/sound system, it means he/she PREFER to listen to the song then to hear your talk..
So, please dont try to beat the volume of the radio/mp3 by speaking even Louder....

I wonder, how do you break a conversation when it gets stagnant, in the case when a coffee / talk-cock / catch up session started to develop into a "pour-your-work-grudege" and "business-lingo" onto the ocffee table session..

Err..., if its a casual catchup session, please put your work related topic at home, or lock it up in the office.
Everyone had enough of work related topics at least 8hrs-a-day, 5-days a week..
Would appreciate if its really more on silly topics and light-hearted issue...
unless of cos you are in a bitchy profession and lotsa gossip to share, then by all means...!

People should have the courtesy and be mindful of what to say depending on the company and the purpose of a "coffee/catch-up session".

12 Gals out of the 18 rowing crews rowing thru 10km non-stop under the scorching sun.

All in support for creating the awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (A.L.S.)
- is a progressive,[1] fatal, neurodegenerative disease caused by the degeneration of motor neurons, the nerve cells in the central nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement.

Well, in simple layman's term, if you've watched the true story of "One Litre of Tears", you get an idea of what that disease does...

No mean feat for the Team, with huge support from Team OCBC rowers who helped steered teh ship.
The Team enmerge 19th out of the 25 placing, considering 12 ladies out of the 18crew.

Ok, I'm a sucker for Mizuno products for obvious reason....

How tro resist when its my fave colours/design, and at a sale discount with a further 18% discount bringing the cost down to just $100 for a Decent Mizuno Wave Rider 11.

Of cos, Model is quite outdated, thats why the Sale price.

But then, its a big upgrade for me from my humble SAF new balance ever since teh very first pair in 1999.... a good 10 years...

cannot afford Asics, Mizuno still good. I'm a Die-hard fan somemore.... How to resist....??

Met ivan on the street today.
In fact, the first person that i got to know who guided me or rather acted as my "guardian" in the Volleyball team when i first joined the CC Team to learn abt playing volleyball.

That was like some 9 - 10 years back?
Its the Singapore indoor Volleyball National Open again.

Regretfully, I only had a chance to compete in the Nationals.
It was indeed a very different feel..
In a 9m X 18m court, which turns so small among the corwds on teh gallery.
All eyes on the 12 players.
Stressed, but really a great kind of feel.

Wonder if any chance to relicve that again....

Went for Trg today, and for the first time in my 3 yrs of rowing, I was damn pissed while rowing...

Pissed with the thoughts, "What the hell am I here?"
It was a gruelling 7 km continuous row (or loonger), and what pissed me off was the lack of Team spirit and effort put in.

It was a boat of 18 people, and I swear there were not 18 people rowing.
If somebody can row thru the over 7m with ease and keep spouting nonsense and joke around, either this person is a superman/superwoman or this person simply going thru the motion thru'out the 1hr row...

Sadly, I would say its the latter that pissed me off.

This was/is not any fun row. If people can joke ard and going thru motion while other team-mates carry his/her/their weight, I think they are better off been off-loaded.

Fuck...
this incident just further puts me off from rowing with the Team.
Its just so wrong...

Either my tolerance level has largely fallen or simply the passion has started to wear off.......

I stayed under the shade for the whole of last weekend.
Something very unusual for someone whose weekend never fails to be busking under the Sun.

I chose to be "under the shade", in a bid to get more quality rest.
Quality rest translate to no strenous activities, and gyming takes place in a shaded air-conditioned surroundings.

Sounds "pampered" yeah?

Ironically, when the clock struck 10pm on Dear Sunday night, a severe headache hit me.. Or should I termed it migraine to give it more "justice"?
Those that you would normally get for being under the hot sun for long hours...
I don't think the flourescent lamp in my house is that strong...?
By just "Nuahing" on the sofa for 4 hours, a headache can develop?
Ironic isn't it? All that "trouble" to avoid the sun and "strenuous" activities for 2 days in a bid to get more rest, all I get was a plaguing headache that disturbed me throughout my sleep.
Had to curb it with Panadol the next day morning to keep it at bay...

1.) I got a Deja-vu effect when i get into the Biggest SSC gym and saw that all the equipment were the ones Used in the army back in the 1990s... Err.. You can't even find it in the camps anymore these days.. think it was donated to them by the SAF?

2.) not to mentioned the weights and bars, are all rusted... really very turned-off.. oh, and you need to exercise the "Singapore-spirits" to quickly grab your weights, cos they are all in "limited editions" and "while stocks last"...

3.) whats more annoying, you have to gym witin a "yellow box" in the free weights area, means, u will get verbal warning when you stepped out of "the box" EVERYTIME for even less than 50cm range...

4.) imagine this... you forgot to take out the additional weights from the ez-bar, and the "gym aunty" can haunt u down within the gym to remind you to remove the additional weights...

5.) the gym space is so big but unfortunately vacant. Maybe they wanted to make space so that people can do shuttle run within the gym??

6.) number 1 reason why a member gym is better, you wouldnt really see queues building up at almost 70% of the equipments there...

Uneventful week, except that work volume starts to picks up. Does that spells the economy is picking up contrary to what the economist are forecasting?
I hope so...

Bonus. Job Security. Money....

The week ended off with a good note.
