Confession of a Closeted-cheapo-shopaholic
Some may think, of all places, why do I find joy in shopping "there"..
Hahaa.. yeah, 2nd time there (since its opening), but I am already loving the "shopping" experience there..
Cos i can get almost anything, at really discounted prices... Really almost "Anything", if you can hunt well...
Anything includes Volleyball Net (ok, just the net, but i am already so fascinated by the sight of that in that store...)
Almost 2 hrs shopping there... would have gotten more stuffs, if not for the poor stock-replenishing system they have in place....
Come to think of it, its not really savings, cos you tend to buy more.. lots more, as individually the items are cheaper...
When the bills adds up... hmm...
But, you will be carrying bagfuls of deals home....
Hahaa...
I am begining to love shopping at Mustafa... (minus the crowd)...
Woohoo......
Once a week at least?? I think i am going again within the next 24hrs.....

Feel Good factor
Although it's no award winning artefacts.
It stills feels good to see your own works hanging up on the wall of an Art gallery.
How fascinatinig it is to stand beside your picture, over-hearing comments from the people who bother to stop, and appreciate the picture.
Even more so when you hear how they interpret your picture, teh way you intedned it to be...
I admit, Its enough an ego-booster already..

Its Back..... !
Its been a year of departure since the last session.
Now, It's back to the BEACH!
No just the sun , sand and the sea, but more appropriately, its back to beach volleyball.
Sounds exaggerating, but, i think its what I really enjoyed most.
Just the true company of Vball kakis,
just for Vball.
Something which i picked up my confidence from, something I am proud to be associated with, and company whom i've stick with for 5 years, or longer?
All in the name of volleyball.
No other agendas.

What the hell am I doing here?
Everything started to feel so different...
The whole mood is wrong.
It has lost the competitive mood of yester-year...
Felt as though gradually, it is heading in another direction...
A deja-vu effect. A direction that doesn't align with the original grp of members.
It felt like this.
That group which fought competitively, trained competitively and think competitively, seems to be vanishing.
Gradually, all that seems to be replaced....
Replaced by one that takes things more easily.
One which the game becomes a means itself to get people together for other functional purposes.
As oppose to one that gets together becos of the game.
One where dinners/lunches are gather without leaving the topic of racing strategy, positioning, how to improve, what more races to head for, etc...
It was a 90 - 10 allocation back then. Which could be why we were second to "that Team".
Now, it seems like a different agenda has surfaced.
An genda that places victory as secondary.
An allocation of 50-50? or even 30-70?
That wasn't what i had in mind back then.
That wasn't how it used to be back then.
As it evolves, it just doesn't seem right to me.. It has seemingly evolved to one familar Team which i left way back then...
Evidently, the committment to competitive trg has changed.
Did people congrgate for the training and achievements or for the "gathering" and fun?
Ever since i first tasted the competitive climate in this game, my main focus and aim was to be competitive in it. Spare me the leisure and PR. I'm not there for the recreation anymore.

It was for the competitive spirirt that the team held and formed unknowingly thru the many hard-fought battles and medals haul , more than anything.
The fighting spirit, on-boat, and off-boat.
is losing... was lost...
Was "stunned" when this Team was proclaimed as "less competitive" and "more leisure" now in a bid to get more people...
Was "stunned" when this Team was proclaimed as "less competitive" and "more leisure" now in a bid to get more people...
In times of "survival", everything evolved. Evolved not for the better, unfortunately.
Probably that signals a mis-fit on my end.
Am just trying to find that bit of remaining competitive spirit on-board, and hold on to it as long as I can.
Not sure how long, before it became overwhelmed...
For now, I felt already 50% of it is lost...
It's gradually losing that same meaning to me.
I rather have a competitive one... Not one that only gets serious on competition days, and backed with lotsa consolation and speeches on the aftermath, which were all threwn behind after that.

Not one which puts competition as secondary.
That means, people train for one purpose.
To taste the victory as a Team. Not as a fun game.
To me, It's not fun anymore.
Has it been "corrupted"?
A Game that loses its competitive edge?
Or rather, a Team that loses its competitive edge.
If goals are mis-aligned, it became a struggle to hang onto it.
Or rather, a Team that loses its competitive edge.
If goals are mis-aligned, it became a struggle to hang onto it.
when personal agenda comes into play.
Just for a bit longer, but how long can i hold onto it til...?
A question for myself to reflect..
"Why am I still there"

I guess, its for the undeserving lost last year which we hope to regain in 6 months time. But judging from the look of it, it seems distance...

United SG Dragons - The Putrajaya Ones...

Enjoyed the weekend that just passed.
It felt like a race like no other.
Thou the team that went up north was small, but everything felt good.
Overseas trip is really fun, even tho i didnt showed it explicitly.
I wished I could live like that forever.... just doing what you like, care-free...
******** Was awed by the comercial posted by a friend on Facebook.
It's supposed to be a Hair Shampoo commercial, which I couldn't really see any tiny bit of link, until the final part... abit hilarious there though...
Well, must say its an inspiring and meaningful commercial.
More importantly, it brings across the message, not to see things at face value, don't stereo-type.
you dont have to be like this, and like that to belong to that genre of activities or surroundings.
Rather than asking: "Why am I different from others?"
ask yourself: "Why... ... do you have to be like others?"
*Hmm... I'm switching to pantene *

20 years on....
After 20 Years, can't imagine that we can still meet-up and talk about the nostalgic past...
Classic part was, we have all ditch the "cyclops- glasses", including yours truly after 20 years...
back then, anyone who wears a specs, never failed to be spotted with these "Cyclops" glasses... so...., X-men was popular back then...

Ahhh..... Beer Tasting!
Wine tasting?
Nothing new.
Plus cost alot.
Ever heard or tried BEER Tasting??
Haha... yeah, there'ssuch a thing as Beer tasting... and its FREE! lol..
Thanks to free event invitation from Lab Series.. Though it's just a marketing gimmick, but i think i benefit more from the BEER tasting and seesion more...
Besides Alcoholic Contents, beers are measured in terms of Bitterness, known as IBU (International Bitterness Unit).
Know what's a "Hand-crafted" beer? nay, not one use hand to make... but beers brewed in Small quantity...
"The Queen & The Mangosteen" at Vivo claims their beer are all hand-crafted beers.. true enuff, when i took a peek into their small little in-house"brewery".
Quite a number of Small little breweries look-alike container in a room...
Just liek wine tasting, look at the colour of the beer, look at the little bubbles rising from the mug (minus that swirling action), and smell it before you gulp it down..
Ahhh..... Taste Cool!
Got to try at least 7 different types of Beers.. IBU ranging from the very mild 20 plus to the close to stout level of 50 plus.
Well, not really full 7 mugs lah, just small serving each, like 50 - 100 ml only per glass.

New found haunt...
Was "introduced " to this Indian food cuisine place hiding in the 鸟不身蛋place in Science park I..
Its a noth Indian Cuisine, and gladly, the price is very food court price, but high grade ambience.
Moreover, NO GST and service charge, with teh good serice rendered.
More importantly, the food are really nice Indian food( At least much better than the CBD foodcourts indian food).
Quite a big area, and owing to the fact that its a Sunday, and this is situated in a 鸟不身蛋 area, there isn't any crowd.
Lotsa lightings, cloths, INdian MTVs, stainless steels utensils, and fortunately, they mute the MTVs... so its a rather "quiet" place with a fair share of non-indians patronizing...
More indians tehre are north indians...
Not a fan of indian food, but gave it a try, and like the Masala Mutton. One serving can serve 2 person, and its just $6-8. And must say the menu is really extensive.... Machiam like a storey book, that can easily contain up to 20 pages...!
The Naam was really nice too...
Can't say the same for their drinks, but think what i really like is the ambience and the super lack of crowd on a weekend dinner...
Lotsa lightings, felt like Deepavali... hahaa...
Tehreafter, found another great hangout location....
Tucked away in the remote northern part of S'pore, at Choa Chu Kang, Farmart, there's a relatively cosy place to chill out with wine, or simply, tea/coffee...
Quiet close to the nature(really near with wild dogs and trees/shrubs/bushes everywhere) and more importantly again, away from the crowds...
Hmmmm... wonder if its a "symptom" of aging that i started to shun crowded places and prefer the quiet , slow moving pace of life....

好想好想- Change?
好想好想
Suddenly it hits me..
I'm Kinda sick of the banking ops...
Kinda sick of the banking world and the whatnot...
Tempted to take up sales job.. probably something more pro-active and interactive..
Not service sales..
But product sales..
Say, selling "machineries/furniture & fittings to corporate customers?
Selling something tangible .
I think it should be more interesing to meet different people, company, and corporates..
Maybe thats the little pleasure that we lost touch with, amidst the enviable desk-bound banking jobs.
An ex-colleague did just that.. seems as though a big "sacrifice" to give up an enviable banking job at the front office, to pursue somethign she thinks more interesting...
I'm kinda tempted though....
Then again.... *sigh*
A hectic week(end). Not surprising.., since i pack every other non-work related , non-revenue generating activities in the 2 pathetic and miserable 24hrs..
2 more weeks, and i should see myself freeing up a couple of hours on sunday noon...
Other tahn that, everything else still seems to remain status-quo...
Why?
Becos I still can't (bear to) give up more...
Coupled with the others ad-hoc 'activities' over the weekends, i seriously have to intentionally brush some other important, but of slightly less priority stuffs aside..
Just attended a Church wedding and a banquet this week, and yeah, you know how emotional it can get when the bride/bridegroom gave their speeches, give thanks to their parents, and the "special" song that teh groom usually did on the wedding dinner that makes the brides tears flow uncontrollably...
All that seems so sweet and loving.
So blissful...
Then again , it makes you wonder what happened to all that promises and "sacrifices" made on this wedding day years on into the marriage.
Seems as though all that was just an ad-hoc "event" for that one night only..
Well, to be fair, there are cases though that the happy ending still continues... but for how many?
Anyway, its always heart-warming to see how couples xpress their loves and vows on wedding days, decalring their loves for one another. Especially gets to me tho, was always the part when they thank their parents, narrating how much sacrifices their parent have done for them over the years....
on the other-hand, this year still can't evade the "wedding" tax...
one down, 3 more to go...
Gone are the days when the lowest "market rate" was $60..
Now it wouldn't settle for less than $80 as per market convention...Depending on the location as well.
If its 4 stars and above, bid farewell to $100 bucks...
only second quarter this year... wonder if i can evade these taxes for the next 2 quarter just for 2009.....

Sapa Video - Thoughts
Music: Sweet Lullaby by Deep Forest
Pictures: Canon Powershot SX-10 / Canon IXY 25-IS
Just loved putting Sounds to Pictues. Gives the pictures more life rather than just a plain 2-dimensional pictorial showcase..
I yearn for a care-free life-style like the villagers..
But, this is reality...
Dreams and reality hardly meets.
Sick of the working world. Struggling to make ends meet to clear off heft of liabilities and debt.
What do we get at the end of the day?
Just another day of slogging....
I'm breathless from the burden of liabilities. Wished I could just fly away to a little village/town an live a care-free life.

放开 . 舍得?
I'm "squeezed"...
So many thinsg have to be squeezed in to the weekends.. How is that possible...?
How to take a breather....
Can't have the best of all world...
"You can't have your cake and eat it"
Probably should really learnt to let go of somethings, and my life will be better?
有种拥有,叫做放手。。。。
But which comes first...?
Which to let go off...?
放弃了,是否会舍得?
没有“舍”, 又怎么会“得”。。。?
