Ironic

I stayed under the shade for the whole of last weekend.
Something very unusual for someone whose weekend never fails to be busking under the Sun.

I chose to be "under the shade", in a bid to get more quality rest.
Quality rest translate to no strenous activities, and gyming takes place in a shaded air-conditioned surroundings.

Sounds "pampered" yeah?

Ironically, when the clock struck 10pm on Dear Sunday night, a severe headache hit me.. Or should I termed it migraine to give it more "justice"?
Those that you would normally get for being under the hot sun for long hours...
I don't think the flourescent lamp in my house is that strong...?
By just "Nuahing" on the sofa for 4 hours, a headache can develop?
Ironic isn't it? All that "trouble" to avoid the sun and "strenuous" activities for 2 days in a bid to get more rest, all I get was a plaguing headache that disturbed me throughout my sleep.
Had to curb it with Panadol the next day morning to keep it at bay...

*Sigh*
Isn't it Ironic, don't you think?

Threshold

chance upon a little article in the newspaper, which leads me to a blog of yet another budding young local director.

What drew me to the article first was the headline.
An unusual one which surprises me...

毕业代表致词提“抗议“
南大澄清误会 学生接受
To me, i considered it the news of the century here in Singapore...
Graduating Student/Director Loo Zihan very directly lash back at the NTU "censorship" board during convocation in his valedictorian Speech just recently.(uncensored)
Result: NTU "calrifies" or rather "Apologies"??
That's a first i supposed.
Not that i have anything against NTU, definitely not when They were the one that issued my piece of Degree..
Impressed at the speech.
Just becos of a big hoo-ha over a poster for his thesis film by the NTU board...
I guess his threshold of tolerance has been violated, hence the fabulous speech..!

hibernate

I shouldn't have procratinate...
The aftermath is scary...
I did felt quite disturbed after seeing the letter.
Time to be more self-discipline in my own management style..
It can be done. Just that I have been procratinating it...
A little time spent in managing and it reveals that its not a really big issue....
Damn... time to go into "Hibernation".
The consequence of pro-long procrastination.
Its a disease isn't it?
And the cure?
Reflection, action, accumulation thru hibermation.
I know, its not even winter yet...
call it advance-accelerated hibernation...
I need the accumulation..

翅膀

Woke up to a nice melody rining in my head.
Don't know how this song came about to me in the morining. Maybe I dreamt of something related to it?

Then the mood was totally changed when i read, or rather , browsed thru' the papers in the morning.
Read abt a 'bad' news on the newspaper headlines.
Damn pissed off with the news..

ermm.. not the Jakarta bomb blast.
Maybe bcos its no longer a "rare" sight and happenings for hotels to go off by some perverted mind-twisted individuals who bombs for fun.

These people are sick, and should die by having the bomb ignited even befoe they can go near anyone. Best, the bomb dont kill them immediately, let these suicide bomber suffer by losing limbs and slowly bleed to death.
Thats what they deserved and loved it , dont they?

Ok, forget about those sickos...
making me sound like an even sicker person.

Whats more annoying in the news is some idiot(s) who claims noble and abuse the public's kindness, sympathy, and cash, indulging in self-enjoyment.

What The F***.

Using donations for own gains. Buying properties, living the "atas" life, and even go DIVING!
Matbe even providing for another man.
F***!

TRUE

Made a "huge" committment today...
by Staying "TRUE to my heart", for another 3 more years.
on hindsight, think its still worth it... Imagine if they successfully take over Cali in Singapore like they did in Bangkok....
They almost got the Orchard branch.... hha.. try harder, still got high chance.. so close...
Then my $50/mth fees can access Cali outlets as well..., isnt that a huge Bargain??? hahahaha...

Hmm.. maybe they can consider adopting the following tag-line?

"Stay True to your heart, stay with True Fitness"
Corny huh...? -_-"

Furthermore, after getting a "first hand" experience with SSC gym, i can finally appreciate the vast difference between paying $50/mth and $2.50 per visit...

1.) I got a Deja-vu effect when i get into the Biggest SSC gym and saw that all the equipment were the ones Used in the army back in the 1990s... Err.. You can't even find it in the camps anymore these days.. think it was donated to them by the SAF?

2.) not to mentioned the weights and bars, are all rusted... really very turned-off.. oh, and you need to exercise the "Singapore-spirits" to quickly grab your weights, cos they are all in "limited editions" and "while stocks last"...

3.) whats more annoying, you have to gym witin a "yellow box" in the free weights area, means, u will get verbal warning when you stepped out of "the box" EVERYTIME for even less than 50cm range...

4.) imagine this... you forgot to take out the additional weights from the ez-bar, and the "gym aunty" can haunt u down within the gym to remind you to remove the additional weights...

5.) the gym space is so big but unfortunately vacant. Maybe they wanted to make space so that people can do shuttle run within the gym??

6.) number 1 reason why a member gym is better, you wouldnt really see queues building up at almost 70% of the equipments there...

Friday

本日も晴れ。異所なし
(Clear Day again today. No Disturbances)
Uneventful week, except that work volume starts to picks up. Does that spells the economy is picking up contrary to what the economist are forecasting?
I hope so...

Bonus. Job Security. Money....

The week ended off with a good note.
Because of great companys for a wonderful dinner.
Oh, and lotsa Ice-cream after that...Lots.....

Nice.....

Mad World

Strike a chord?

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places,
worn out faces

Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere,
going nowhere

And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression,
no expression

.

.

When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world
mad world

I Dreamed a Dream

We emerged as a Silver medalist.

Felt so real , that I woke up in disappointment...
It's a dream...

I Dreamed a Dream....

(日有所思,夜有所梦?)

Confession of a Closeted-cheapo-shopaholic

Some may think, of all places, why do I find joy in shopping "there"..

Hahaa.. yeah, 2nd time there (since its opening), but I am already loving the "shopping" experience there..
Cos i can get almost anything, at really discounted prices... Really almost "Anything", if you can hunt well...
Anything includes Volleyball Net (ok, just the net, but i am already so fascinated by the sight of that in that store...)
Almost 2 hrs shopping there... would have gotten more stuffs, if not for the poor stock-replenishing system they have in place....
Come to think of it, its not really savings, cos you tend to buy more.. lots more, as individually the items are cheaper...

When the bills adds up... hmm...
But, you will be carrying bagfuls of deals home....

Hahaa...
I am begining to love shopping at Mustafa... (minus the crowd)...
Woohoo......
Once a week at least?? I think i am going again within the next 24hrs.....

Feel Good factor

Although it's no award winning artefacts.
It stills feels good to see your own works hanging up on the wall of an Art gallery.

How fascinatinig it is to stand beside your picture, over-hearing comments from the people who bother to stop, and appreciate the picture.

Even more so when you hear how they interpret your picture, teh way you intedned it to be...

I admit, Its enough an ego-booster already..

Its Back..... !

Its been a year of departure since the last session.

Now, It's back to the BEACH!
No just the sun , sand and the sea, but more appropriately, its back to beach volleyball.

Sounds exaggerating, but, i think its what I really enjoyed most.
Just the true company of Vball kakis,
just for Vball.

Something which i picked up my confidence from, something I am proud to be associated with, and company whom i've stick with for 5 years, or longer?
All in the name of volleyball.

No other agendas.

I like.

What the hell am I doing here?

Everything started to feel so different...

The whole mood is wrong.
It has lost the competitive mood of yester-year...
Felt as though gradually, it is heading in another direction...
A deja-vu effect. A direction that doesn't align with the original grp of members.

It felt like this.
That group which fought competitively, trained competitively and think competitively, seems to be vanishing.
Gradually, all that seems to be replaced....
Replaced by one that takes things more easily.
One which the game becomes a means itself to get people together for other functional purposes.
As oppose to one that gets together becos of the game.
One where dinners/lunches are gather without leaving the topic of racing strategy, positioning, how to improve, what more races to head for, etc...
It was a 90 - 10 allocation back then. Which could be why we were second to "that Team".

Now, it seems like a different agenda has surfaced.
An genda that places victory as secondary.
An allocation of 50-50? or even 30-70?

That wasn't what i had in mind back then.
That wasn't how it used to be back then.

As it evolves, it just doesn't seem right to me.. It has seemingly evolved to one familar Team which i left way back then...

Evidently, the committment to competitive trg has changed.
Did people congrgate for the training and achievements or for the "gathering" and fun?

Ever since i first tasted the competitive climate in this game, my main focus and aim was to be competitive in it. Spare me the leisure and PR. I'm not there for the recreation anymore.

It was for the competitive spirirt that the team held and formed unknowingly thru the many hard-fought battles and medals haul , more than anything.
The fighting spirit, on-boat, and off-boat.
is losing... was lost...
Was "stunned" when this Team was proclaimed as "less competitive" and "more leisure" now in a bid to get more people...
In times of "survival", everything evolved. Evolved not for the better, unfortunately.
Probably that signals a mis-fit on my end.

Am just trying to find that bit of remaining competitive spirit on-board, and hold on to it as long as I can.
Not sure how long, before it became overwhelmed...
For now, I felt already 50% of it is lost...

It's gradually losing that same meaning to me.

I rather have a competitive one... Not one that only gets serious on competition days, and backed with lotsa consolation and speeches on the aftermath, which were all threwn behind after that.
Not one which puts competition as secondary.
That means, people train for one purpose.
To taste the victory as a Team. Not as a fun game.
To me, It's not fun anymore.

Has it been "corrupted"?
A Game that loses its competitive edge?
Or rather, a Team that loses its competitive edge.

If goals are mis-aligned, it became a struggle to hang onto it.
when personal agenda comes into play.
Just for a bit longer, but how long can i hold onto it til...?

A question for myself to reflect..
"Why am I still there"
"what the hell am i doing here...?"
I guess, its for the undeserving lost last year which we hope to regain in 6 months time. But judging from the look of it, it seems distance...

Enjoyed the weekend that just passed.

It felt like a race like no other.
Thou the team that went up north was small, but everything felt good.
Overseas trip is really fun, even tho i didnt showed it explicitly.
I wished I could live like that forever.... just doing what you like, care-free...

********
Was awed by the comercial posted by a friend on Facebook.

It's supposed to be a Hair Shampoo commercial, which I couldn't really see any tiny bit of link, until the final part... abit hilarious there though...

Well, must say its an inspiring and meaningful commercial.

More importantly, it brings across the message, not to see things at face value, don't stereo-type.

you dont have to be like this, and like that to belong to that genre of activities or surroundings.

Rather than asking: "Why am I different from others?"
ask yourself: "Why... ... do you have to be like others?"

*Hmm... I'm switching to pantene *
