Queer...? Errie? Coincidental?

Came across this comment on a fren's blog....

Send a sudden shiver down my spine as i "explore" the details...

The title of the comments was:
" What happens to your online self when you die? "

Amid all the comments and criticism on bloggings and bloggers, this blog message speaks for itself that blogging isn't a self-exhibitionist act, nor an act of a "loser", etc....

This is a true news, which i believed was in the newspaper sometime not long ago. perhaps a few days ago...

Adapted from an annonymous commentor:

"What happens to your online self when you die? There have been many cases of death hoaxes where people have faked their own deaths on the internet, but for those who *really* die, what happens to their blogs and websites?

Take for example, the case of Sek Man Ng, who was murdered, along with his sister, moments after he updated his site. It was his blog that put the killer in jail.

http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=toto247

Sek Man's xanga site is still floating in cyberspace, providing a posthumous dialogue between his mind and the world out there. This online conversation continues with no indication of being closed down. It is a story with no closure, no final chapter, and no segueway into the last days of his life. Sek Man's physical presence may have come to an end, but his virtual and cyber presence lives on. Perhaps this is why his story is so incredibly fascinating - his blog is an online, modern-day equivalent of Anne Frank, with a beginning, a middle, but no end. The only ending we know of is the tragic one that we have read about from other sources. It is a story that has been left open to interpretation. Like an abrupt end to a relationship, we are left wondering what went wrong, why, and what could have been.

Examples such as the one above have grave implications on issues such as online identity, corporeality, and embodiment. We put so much of ourselves and our thoughts into our computers that it is possible to discover more about an individual by looking at his blog and his computer than talking to him or her. Should we lose this data, we lose a great part of our identity.

Will our blogs one day serve as posthumous witnesses to our online exitence or will they, like Sek Man's journal, float in cyberspace, waiting for someone to remove them?

The last entry in his blog, i believe, reveals the identity of the killer.
kinda eerie....

sets us thinking huh?
A blog reveals more than you think.... How true...

Dilemma

Dilemma 1:
Have always been looking for the weekends.
No exception this week, but my plans for the weekends kinda "dashed"

"dashed" in the sense that my "pre-progrrammed" activities will failed to materialise..

No vball at NUS, no Vball at SSB sentosa.
Reason: fren's couldn't make it....
Sad... =(

Another 5 more days before the next weekend.
hrmm.. gotta make contingency plan for this coming week...
Initially wished that weekends would arrive soon, and now, i wished it would just hold. I havent make plans yet...

Dilemma 2:
An Email kinda aroused my intention for a change of job.
A dream which I had secretly wanted to fulfil since my teenage years. A career which I thought I will definitely choose in adulthood.
Well, this time, the opportunity came, but i'm hesistant.
It's gonna be a committment IF i really managed to clinched it.
But I'm doubtful if I'm ready for it.
A career with the SPF, aka Singapore Police Force.

I hope no one's jaw drops upon reading this...
In fact, this idea has been playing in my mind constantly whenever i came across any recruitment banners/booth for the SPF. Just not sure if this is what i really want for the next couple of many years.
It's not gonna be like the everyday 9-5 ofice job which you can change as and when you dislike it.
To me, it will be a kind of committment.
A much much stronger sense of responsibility and integerity for staying on once you are in it.
But will i really like it?
No answers.
But one thing for sure,
over the years, I have never drop the idea of pursuing a career with the police force....
Maybe I should jutst try for it.
Afterall, it's not that easy to get in too.

Or will I procrastinate this opportunity again for the umpteen time?
undecided, unsure, indecisive...

A Day well Spent: Priceless!

today marks the start of the much anticipitated long weekend...
Today's one of the few weekends i truly enjoyed and felt well-spent.

Nonetheless, it's becos i spent a full day with my "first Love". Volleyball @ SSB Sentosa (My "next love").

As usual, challenges started early noon, going round courts taking on teams and frens of fens and frens.
Tiring and shack but all worth it!
- -Great Day - -
- - Great Fun - -

Looking for more of such sessions over weekends!

Well it happened that tresa, yanran and frens happened to be there too, and hence numbers were more easily made up for game.
Dinner at Harbourfront before making a trip down to yet another greeeeaaaattttt place.

Indochine@Wisma.
A no-dress-code outdoor/indoor thematic bar, restaurant, with a resort style, coupled with a wonderful life band, "Cats In the Cradle" in the outdoor "Sanctuary"

The group of 3 takes on soft rocks by R.E.M., Coldplay, Nirvana, U2, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Pepper, Guns & Roses, etc.
Probably becos the group members falls on the "older age group", and hence they played more of songs from these "older" rock bands.
But i must say, the lead singer is really great! he has a geat voice to the likes of the various lead singers of the above-mentioned rock bands. Very "ang-moh"!
Strongly recommend anyone who loves live band music to check this place out. furthermore, it's free seating with no queues estriction as long as u manage to find table and seats.

The drinks menu are so extensive that u will be able to find any exotic cocktails, mocktails, beer, liquor, soft drinks and even fresh fruit juices and all sorts of sky juice!

after a long day at the beach, followed by a chill-out session @ indochine accompanied with live band music.
That's life!

Summer Storm

SUMMER STORM

Screening: Cathay Cineleisure

Another Foreign film that's worth the $8.50.
Managed to catch it in the cinema before it's been taken off screen.
apparently this show is quite popular, as it's one of the few foreign films that managed to be screened for past 3 weeks in a local theatre.

Was thinking of waiting for the DVD to be available before i catch it, but a last minute impromptu decision made me get the tics and there i am, landed in the comfort of the cushioned seat.

Those who have read reviews on this German film may already know that this is a show with a gay theme and it's R(a)21. Don't be fooled that its graded R(a)21 becos of its "gay elements" in it, but its becos of some harmless exposure of the female upper body parts., and of cos, some intimacy scenes between the boys.
This show is definitely no porn though, sorry to dissapoint those expecting some pornography flicks.

This film spotlights on the emotional confusion of a young man on his path to adulthood, searching for that identity and finally confronting it. Quite a few hilarious scenes to watch out for too, about how paranoid peopel can get over gays.

I suck at reviewing, hence, the best judgement would be to watch it yourself.
all in all, i say this is a very good movie that touched on both sides of the world, ("Gays" and "Straights" as coined in the film.)

Awarded 4 out of 5 stars

"SEPET" stills hold as the Best ever film in my 'A' List of movies!
(Did I mentioned that SEPET was an Inter-racial romance film??)

Sepet - Sequel

This has got to be one of the best film I ever watched!

heart warming, romantic, and touching, with couple of wonderful quotes like:

Boy : How long do you think it takes to fall in love?
Girl : One minute. How long did it take for you to fall in love with me?
Boy : Much less than that....

and another:

Man (husband) : I will never understand you women, even if i live to a hundred.
woman (wife) : you don't need to understand us. Your job is to love us. (it goes something like that)

throughout the show, there are many other note-worthy statements that make this film different from other low budget movies that you thought it would be.

In fact, it has good cinematography and the lightings , sound effects are taken into great details.

scenes where the boy (Jason) and the girl (Orked) were falling in loved, falling out of love (becos of a stupid reason/mistake) would be the best part of the show.

One particular scene i like very much, is the conversation between Jason and Orked on their first date in "Chicken King" fast food restaurant (hmm... combi of 2 fast food restaurant??). It sounded so real. like what you hear in real life between 2 person. Both the language and body-language are so damn natural!

and the photoshots they took in the photo studio.. so hilarious and yet "romantic" in a certain way...
Oh and yes, watch for the ending, as it's very sad and touching. The director have to keep us in suspense by ending it with contrdicting scenes... Maybe he's gearing for a sequel, and hence that explains the "unclear" ending??

Strongly recommend everyone to catch this film! Not only for those in love, or those madly in love, its a great show for those singles, bachelor and bachelorettes. Everyone ought to ctach it!

I Will be glad to lend anyone the DVD!
Awarded : 5 stars out of 5!!

Finally!

yes! I got the " SEPET" DVD!!

haha.... i didn't rent it though, but i actually Bought it!! Must be crazy.. can't believe i BOUGHT an Original DVD...

At least it's not exp like it was 2-3 years back when a owning a DVD means u belong to the richer minority group. In fact, this DVD only cost $18.90. ( I should have wait til i go to JB then get it, since it would be much cheaper... but i CAN'T Wait!!)

Well, it might be a Malaysian produced film, but i suppose the story should be marvellous judging from the various awards it garnered in various film festivals.
(NB, i dont have anything against Made-In-Malaysia films, just that we hardly see any of them in the global scene)

A nice quote on the DVD cover: " You don't have to understand people to love them"

hrmm.. 2 more days ......

HapPy - Sequel

Fave of All Time: Char Kway Tiao (With Lotsa 'Hums')

Location: Tiong Bahru Hawker Center

A sinful and extremely unhealthy food, yet so irrestible with the 'smooth' sweet taste! the succulent sea hums and the heavenly taste of Seafood contained in the sea hum!
I can never resist a good plate of Char Kway Tiao.

apparently i just realised that Tiong Bahru Hawker Center (TBHC) opens til midnight or later nowadays, compared to the times whem it was situated in their former location a busstop away.

Initially wanted to go for a plate of sea hum instead, but considering that it was already quite late and speculation that they will not be fresh, i settled for a plate of good old Char Kway Tiao with EXTRA Hums!

To make up for this unhealthy late night supper, I had a grande Tangy Tomatoe (From Soupspoon) take-away from earlier, to accompany me thru the night as i caught on with a rented DVD title...
This soup is really nutritious made with real ingredients with no preservatives!
With real Tomatoes!
How do i know?
cos i used to be selling those soups as a part-timer! The soup still as good, except from the memories from yester-years... =)

Rented a DVD title from the DVD kiosk (PLAY!) at Tiong Bahru Plaza. Check out the kiosk!
Kinda like thier "Logo" with that cute looking white figurine that strikes some resemblence to "Mr Pee".

Rented the Korean Movie "3-Iron"
A weird show, that hardly have any conversation thoughout the 95 minutes of the show. U can count the total number of lines each character have...
Don't be misled by teh movie poster that this is another R(A) movie. It's NOT, infact it's just an NC-16 restricted movie.

The recent craze for catching DVD are due to the following reasons:

  1. A 42" plasma TV courtesy of my bro
  2. The rising cinema tics that made it unworthy to catch foreign movies in the cinemas
  3. Great foreign shows hardly screen long enuff on the big screen for me to have a chance to catch them, before they are withdrawn.

Now i am anxiously anticipating for the foreign film "SEPET" to be available in the kiosk
"One Chinese Boy. One Malay Girl. One Unforgettable Love Story"

HappY

ok.., I was 'late' in publicising this drama box production which my fren is involved. She's now a Full time staff of Drama Box! Pursuing what she loved.

"... Love and Hate...... Lust and Desire.....
Pain, Incest, Sodomy.... Giving & Taking....
What would you do to be Happy?"

That's the tagline for the play. Well, to quote what my fren says, " as much as the poster looks gay.. it's actulaly juz about LOVE, those in love, out of love & in platonic relationships."

Well, this time it seems to be huiling's (affectionately known as 'DaJie' by the group of us from yester-years) "larger scale" performance, you bet i gotta give my support for her!
since it's a fundraising play, the tics price are a bit on the high side for a play like this.

Well, don't expect nudity scenes like the poster, it's not what u think it is... The show is a reflection of the various emotions and relationships thru 3 different scences. "The Happy Prince", "Salome" and the life of Oscar Wilde.

The play runs til 15th May @ teh Esplanade Theatre Studio.

p.s., Contemplating on catching "Phua Chu Kang The Musical", guess it will be a great entertaining musical..... Any takers? lol

BaLaClaVa vs Wala-wala

An 'analysis' between Balaclava & Wala-wala
(note: these are from my personal point of view ONLY. Preference may differ with diff indivs....)

Ambience: Balaclava wins hands-down with its chic, spacious, "classy" and comfortability. Well, that gotta exclude the outdoor seatings though.

Beer: Balaclava beer seems to be "bigger" in quantity... A similar 1 Pint Hoegaarden has totally different size and quantity in wala-wala. Balaclava one is Really "humongous" for that extra $2... I wonder why???

Crowd: Wala-Wala spots a younger crowd (mainly students?) who are there for the music SOLELY.
Balaclava's crowd tunes towards the working class and relatively more expats, who are there for catching up, knowing fren's fren's fren's frens and chatting away, while the poor band plays in the background with hardly any applause or appreciation after a performance.
A minority lot are there for the music though...

Both place gets really crowded despite the spacious Balaclava. ( I think it's 2-3 tyimes larger than wala-wala)

Music: Happened that the night i was @ Balaclava, the band plays lotsa soft-rock from a variety of groups and bands, interchangeing between female and male vocal lead. That's really a great pleasure to the ear! Hence I shall award Balaclava an edge over wala-wala for this...

Queues: I Loved Balaclva for This!! No unnecessary holding up of queue lines at all! @ 10pm, i can just walk in without any bouncer/cashier standing guard at the door-way. It's simply a "go-on-in-as-and-when-you-like" concept. I.e., u are not obliged to choose ur drink or make payment at the entrance!!

hrrmm..... guess the results obvious....
But that doesn't mean i am ruling out wala-wala for a night of fun and booze.

If u wish to take things at a slower pace ,a place for catching up, with great music at the background, u know where to go....

Brought to u by: An "Island" Production...

Here's another of my "freaky" editing project... havent got plenty of time, so tried out on a audio editing instead...

Ahem.... Presenting to u....
A Never heard before "Everytime" performed by Britney Spears and S.H.E TOGETHER!

Yup, i mean together!! They did this "recording" in my "Recording studio"! F.O.C!! lol....
Here's the Lyrics to this particular 'Duet' Between Britney and S.H.E.

Enjoy!!
[p.s. for a limited period only]

Notice me, take my hand
你的心 飞去哪里

Our love is strong Why carry on without me
别说对不起 别让我伤了心才说
不是故意 I guess I need you, baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, it's haunting me
我却只能爱你

闭上眼睛 却看见你
想你的好 代替无力
What have I done You seem to move on easy

chorus:
And everytime I try to fly, I fall Without my wings, I feel so small
(别说对不起 别让我灰了心 才说不是故意 )
I guess I need you, baby
别说对不起 别让我的爱情变得
小心翼翼 我却只能爱你

I may have made it rain
Please forgive me
My weakness caused you pain
我想要的不只是 sorry

无声飞行 享受黑夜的静谧
And everytime I try to fly,
I fall Without my wings,
I feel so small
I guess I need you, baby
别说对不起 别让我的爱情变成
廉价物品 我却只能爱你
(I guess I need you, baby)

A very meaningful quote....
To all my Frens out there,

要开心过日子啊!还有记得生命中有我这个朋友, 有空记得常联络!

DVD Freak....

Jialat.. i think i am turning to a couch potatoe and a sucker for DVD movies real soon... *tsk*, *tsk*, *tsk*....

Recently came across a few DVD rental bargained services like www.Hollywoodclicks.com and www.Play.com.sg

Both are very much S'pore base DVD rentals services that surprisingly provides a wide array of DVD titles at reasonable prices... do some simple mathematics and u will find one of them to be a suitable choice for u... haha

Rented my first ever DVD from Play.com.sg, and it was a title that i regretfully missed when it was screened in Cathay Cineleisure Orchard Months ago... and FORTUNATLEY, they have this title in the machine!!

Highly Recommended Movie: Umizaru (meaning: "Sea Monkey")

It's a Jap movie on Rescue Divers. For more reviews on this movie,
check out Joy's "drama-ramma" blog on her personal review!
It's really a GREAT show!

p.s. There's also a Kawaii female lead... ehhee

Btw, There IS suppose a sequel to this show, cos at the very end of the show after all the scrolling of "Credits" and "Behind the Scences" footages, there IS a minute or so of footages of continuation on a Sea mis-hap and ended with the title detailing a sequel....
hrmm.... Let's wait and see....

What does Your B'Day Means? (Hear only the good comments)

Your Birthdate: March 15

With a birthday on the 15th of any month, you are apt to have really strong attachments to home, family and domestic scene.

The 1 and 5 equaling 6, provide the sort of energy that makes you an excellent parent or teacher.

You are very responsible and capable.
This is an attractive and an attracting influence.

You like harmony in your environment and strive to maintain it.

You tend to learn by observation rather than study and research.

You may like to cook, but you probably don't follow recipes.

This number shows artistic leanings and would certainly support an talents that may be otherwise in your makeup.

You're a very generous and giving person, but perhaps a bit stubborn in ways.

Well, what to say... this website sure knows how to attract bloggers by listing down only good attributes... hhaahaha.. Majority of the points rather true huh....

That sure does boost my ego.... lol

I'm floating, i'm floating....
