So far, So good..

Being in my new job for almost 2 monthsle.

1st month in London was alright..
meaning, uneventfukl, just liek everyday work.
Wake up , go to work, knock off, dinner, sleep...

felt the real "Impact" only when work starts in teh S'pore Office and takes on teh lOndon shift...

Coming in to work in the late noon feels good..
gets to run more errands, sleep longer hours everyday!

But the fact of "burning midnight oil" is really detrimental to the health...

So must stock up on Manuka Honey, probably Bird's nest , work out more often, and maybe considering pampering oneself with appointments to facial sp aand increase diet of anti-oxidant products?

Cos it sounds kinda scary how keeping late nights can speed up the ageing effect!!!!!
oh no, does that mean it's tiem to hit the Robinson and Metro to shop for Bio-therm? Neugeno? Origins? Nivea? Zeith?
No wonder they pay us allowances for shift work....

Well, above all, still like my job so far... working hours are reasonable, an believed will get better... heheh

Havent been posting up pics, recently cos finding it inconvenient to having thread to internet cafe across the apartm,ent i am staying to upload.. its like a race against time...

Time really flies, its almost a month since i arrived, and soon, i will be on board the plane back to S'pore!

Missed the familiarity and accessibility in s'pore..
most of all, missed all the food in S'pore!!!!

And of cos, Missed All My frens in S'pore Dearly too! Not to mention my family as well..
Sounds cliche, but still find it agood experience to work overseas...

Not exactly my work place, but just a few streets down, is the company Canteen...
yes, its Only a canteen, and its damn cosy inside. Not to mentioned the price of food is subsidised...
BTW, cost of living here is extrememly HIGH! samer pricing as s'pore, but in terms of POUND!

Food served in Pub: their pub opens in the early noon, and yes, lotsa people drink at that time..
and the most common eateries u can find on London street are pubs, and almost all served decent food!
this is a person serving of Lasgne, and its suppose to be a cheap GBP4.65, as its on their "daily special menu"
its equivalent to s'pore's 2 portion...

London! I'm Loving it!

LONDON is cool!
Wonderful!

Climate is good, ranging from 10 - 20degree celsius!
so, its like the whole country is airconditioned!!!

Being touring london street since touch down on 22nd Aug and still doing so now..

Oopppss...., did i mention I am supposed to be here for work??
hhaaaa, only been to office for 2 days... , well to be exact , its 2 half days in teh office...

London architect is awesome, of cos not comparable to many other european countries...
Hence, my plan IS to travel out of London over the weekend, and the FIRST stop will be SCOTLAND!!

Well, if budget permits,.... PARIS here i come !!!

oh yah, one thing bad though here, the internet server everywhere in London seems to be down!
3 days in hotel, server down, now in service apartment, also down.... so resort to using internet cafe.... :(

Can't wait to upload my photos of London SOOONN!!!

Finally after 2 years, I have left my first job since i graduated.

Have been desperately trying for a job switched since 6months back, and now finally the day has come...

Mixed feelings on the last day today as i bid my final farewell to my colleagues.
I thought it would be easy to leave, but the feelings were kinda 沉重.

All the colleagues and friends who have being showering great concern on me thru'out my stay.
All the sincere well-wishes on this last day.
Its really sad to leave them.
At that moment, i wished i could return to this familar place again the next day, and see all these familar and friendly faces again.... ='(

Come to think of it, i find myself fortunate to meet all these frens and colleagues.
no schemings, no obvious politics, showing so much care, concern and support.

Gonna missed them all.....

Life's Great an FUN ! for 2 days (weekends) in a week!

2 days pass so fast...
very very very tired....
rowing Training, training and training... early in the morning at 930am!... Means no more late nights on fridays and staurdays unless training is cancelled....

But i didnt heed the advice.. haha.. stayed out late on friday, little sleep, then still went for volleyball!
Shall be good, and refrain from late nghts le.. hehe....

And the next morning, training again..
really shack out.
Especially so when i am aching form teh volleyball games the previous days...
Jialat, reallty cannot take long breaks from it. After 2 weeks break, only after a few games, and my legs and wrist are aching like nobody's business the next day. arrggh....
So sleepy also...

cannot stop volleball le. so must continuew wit atleast just once a week, until the upcoming preparation for SAVA sprint is over....

For ow, must train hard. For the team! YEEAAHHH..............!!!!

The Fundamentals of Volleyball.

It was a great experience after years of break from serious competitive volleyball.
Although we came in fourth, it was nevertheless a great fight.
Am looking forward to more of such competitions in future after having establishing a "network" of volleyball teams.

That means, its also time for us to train seriously, train like the pros... haha... but where to find an experience coach?? hmmmm.....

Gearing up for upcoming beach vball competition in 2 weeks time.. must train hard and give my best ! in fact, there's gonna be a total of 3 different beach vball competitions coming up over the next 1 month! COOOOOOOL!!!!

It was a great game.
One that I have not experienced for years...

the Jubilation of triumph over an organised team,(2-1) and to sweat it all out with dives and saves against the more experienced and skillful opponents (0-2), which ironically happens to be the team whom i started out learning vball with!

I have nvr run that hard, til i can "hear"my legs muscle tellng me "slow down my fren...."

next week, we will be back, better i'm sure.
we may be small in size, no fanciful patterns, but we pack power!!
hehe..!

p.s. there's a VERY valid reason for donning that shades in the pic.. trust me, no one will want to see me in the pic w/o that "concealment"....

Four months after my company's buyover a rival company, today's teh retrenchment "exercise" as circulated in an email memo by our HRD.

While, news of the retrenchment already started spreading week sbeofre..
Can't believe that i will be going thru a "BIG OVERSEAS" company retrenchment exercise on my first job since graduation.

Is that gonna be some big Hoo-haa about it??
Afterall, how many people get to be in a company where retrenchment exercise takes place? especially when now its not during the down-turn of our "oh-so-robust" economy, where wage increments are even in plans by the NWC....

Many peopoel wished they would be the one retrenched. as some of my auntie-colleagues put it on the eve of retrenchment...

wait a minute... thrus got TOTO meh??
they were referring to retrenchment letter.
i.e. for those who worked for donkey years, imagine they are paid 1.5 of their monthly drawn income for every year of service they held with the "Company"!
lets do some maths here...

lets say u worked for 10 yrs, which "surprisingly" was quite common among most staffs there,
and ur gross pay is say avg 1.5k (lets just take clerical staff only...)
so if u kena the letter,
Your TOTO price will be 1.5 X 10 X 1.5 = 22,5oo.00 (Twenty Two Thousand OVER)!

Isnt that the same as striking TOTO???
Imagine you are on the executive position...
or even managerial level?? Its like strikin gthe ANG BAO TOTO??!!!!

when people were slowly called up to HRD in the morning, many senior staffs "strike" the TOTO... One was my former boss, which was rather sad for some of us, though we would kinda expect it...he's being with teh bank for over 20 years, and worked his way up... brught about note-worthy changes to his previous dept...

Well, it was not a teary event, just some surprises and well-wishing... infact, it wasnt a really major retrenchment... politically correct grammar to us woule be a "stramlining" of operations staffing.

My current Dept wasn't affected at all, Since they were already very short-handed (the reason for me being transferred ) and in Chaos since Day 1 of the merger.

Sigh...
Though now i can really understand what the importance of "Job security" holds in our textbooks back during those schooling days...

I missed School...
I missed the the life as an under-grad....

I issed those times...
Missed those communal hall-living...
If I could asked genie to turn back time, it would be the year June 2001 - June 2004
